I am back (sadly for me, hopefully happily for you!).
Ohh, if it weren’t for having to leave Mabel behind at home I could have stayed in Formentera for the whole summer (well, if it also weren’t for the expense, believe me it ain’t a cheap little island!).
This is the 7th time we’ve been, which makes me feel like an original adopter of the island, well, maybe not, since it’s been popular with hippie types since the 70’s. But it still slightly (okay, hugely) irks me every time I see yet another influencer mention it… it’s the best kept secret!
And a small corner of the world for a 2-hour flight, and a half hour boat journey, that used to be devoid of British people and posh twats (pardon my french).
Yes, there’s always been the ridiculously expensive beach clubs (€29 for a side salad. I’m serious) along the crystal clear waters of the lengthy beach at the end of the island nearest to the port - catering to all those Ibiza day-trippers and uber-wealthy yacht goers - but the REAL Formentera was so much more; so warm, so free, and just so MAGICAL…
Well, it was until this year, we still had the best time, but sadly the hippie island is changing, which we’ve often feared. Most (actually ALL) our favourite local little beach kiosks / chiringuitos have been closed down this year. Actually, not just closed down but completely demolished! I’ll do you more on this, but believe me we grieved for 4 days. If you’re a regular you’ll understand our shock / devastation.
(L-R: Kiosk 62, Kiosko Bartolo, Lucky). These were the places we had the BEST TIMES, all day to night, feet in the sea, speakers in the sand, mojitos and pomadas on repeat! Locals bringing their dogs down for a drink and a swim at 8pm, then dancing, juggling and singing until sunset. Hippie happy times. And the nicest owners. Now they’ve had them taken away from them!
Anyway, moving on and REMAINING ON TOPIC for God’s sake Bethany!
So, I’ll give you my Formentera updates and ‘Everything I Wore In Formentera’ later this week.
*as this is going to take me much longer to pull together and I’m on a go-slow with what I think could be plane covid. Note: I feel horrendous, but the writing show must go on! I’m trying for you Paid Subs, I promise.
But for now THE SHOE SECRET!
Ooo, this is a good one, and a new one to me too. I only just discovered these whilst I was away - why does it always happen that as soon as I’m actually on holiday (and have some time on my hands (eyes) to actually enjoy perusing Instagram) that I find at least ten things I wish I’d seen pre-packing!
Although, I’m not surprised I didn’t see these sooner, they seem to be a pretty small, very undiscovered brand and I just so happened to see them (untagged) on one of my treasured style muses, who always has GREAT footwear - often fun styles and under the radar brands, like this. So this prompted my search!
The rainbow stripes got me, naturally, but they’ve also JUST released a new collab…. have you seen those SPOTS!
And the red I very VERY much like too (if you follow me on Instagram @studio_b_fashion you may have noticed a few full red hawt holiday looks. I added the hawt just for myself there 😂).
WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE SHOES ARE FROM?
I think the rainbow stripe might B my favourite… BE WARNED there’s also some clothing on this site you’re going to love!
