A random WOW list 13/04
This week I've HAD TO do you an extra little list with some things that have just come into my orbit. You're going to want that £39 chair!
I know we’ve had a big wishlist already this week, but I’ve got some more for you that I just HAD TO share!
It’s a random selection inadvertently featuring a bit of a garden party theme:
£39 outdoor lounge chair (this is the best one!)
THE dress for any summer party, garden or beyond
Tomato red bag
Golden daisy chain
Easy peasy snacks for the table
Homegrown hot sauce
Flower power subscription
Crochet flower throw on
Full cirkel floral (dress)
A book to read in your (above) garden chair
Not garden related but Bella Baxter inspired metallic shoes, that I want to wear with that summer party dress!
39 THE garden chair
£39 | George at Asda Metal Lounge Chair
Thank you to
for introducing me to this gem in her newsletter this week, I instantly clicked and bought two for our tiny patio patch of London garden - it’s such a Ferm Living lookalike!I had wanted the Ferm Living ones last year but at over £300 each my garden definitely ain’t good enough for them (and frankly I find the price of garden furniture ridiculous for something I’ll use on average about 4 weeks of the year). However, if you love the Ferm Living ones I have found some colours here for slightly less.
But I’m saying go with the Asda bargain! I’m also kicking myself that I did not know about this incredible HAY lookalike patio table and bench set they had for £249. Of course it’s bloody sold out, but it might B back!
428 The dress I want want want right now
£428 | Doen | Ametrine Dress in Meadow Mirage
This just came new in on Doen on Wednesday and my shaky hands are hovering on the buy button. I saw it the night before on Katherine Doen’s insta stories (below). I mean she is beyond stunning anyway but it does look like the perfect dress. I’m calling it tea party with a side of tart 😂 (in a good way!).
210 Pop of colour with your dress madame
£210 | Paloma Wool | Querida Triangular-shaped Handbag
How juicy is that red in the matte leather. Divine! Could this B the half decent price semi practical bag I’ve been searching for for summer. Great she goes on the shoulder but not as easy access as a crossbody for phone / dog treats… hmm. The shape does look great mind.
20 Lifelong daisy chain
£20 | John Lewis | Multi Flower Faux Pearl Statement Necklace Gold
This won’t wilt, probably costs less than a half decent bunch and you can reuse over and over again, thank me later! And it reminds me a little of this Completed Works one, but at £445 I started looking for other options.
0 Food for the table
Thank you to
for this genius article last week, entitled ‘Barely-cooking cooking’ - this is my kind of chefing! There’s actually so many simple ideas in here that sound right up my street - the sushi rice bowl, crispy gnocchi, tortilla sarnie and emergency hummus I will be rolling out. Because when isn’t a packet of crisps having a hummus emergency in summer.
7 The sauce that makes life better
£6.90 | London Fermentary Jalapeño Sauce
I just had to add this in as we had it again twice this week, I am addicted to this! If you like jalapeños (I more than like) this is the hot sauce for you, it has a right KICK! Give it a good shake mind and maybe add a tiny splash of water when you get to a third or so left, just so it mixes better.
Linked below direct but they have quite a few in store independent stockists (delivery charges are all £5+ from online retailers I’ve found).
It’s so good for tacos, a cheese toastie, salad, chicken, potatoes, anything! Wonder if a splash could be added to a homemade margarita too (pre shaking up and straining). I do LOVE a jalapeño marg.
35 My lady garden
£35 (every 4 weeks) | My Lady Garden Subscription Bouquet
Don’t worry I won’t be telling you about vajazzles or anything like that (haven’t heard that word for a while, ohh the old days of TOWIE) but I will be informing you of a floral subscription from My Lady Garden.
Check out their insta to see how gorgeous their grooming is, I mean pruning, sorry I just mean a sweet posy really! A flower subscription makes such a sweet gift, or just feels like the ultimate grown-up-I’ve-got-my-shit-together treat.
*Delivery seems to be £14 on top mind which did slightly put me off, but it is supporting a small business, and delivery genuinely is so expensive now (I used to undercharge what it actually cost me with my online store, which really was silly business sense!).
228 Just like grandma used to make
£228 | Free People | Rue Crochet Tunic
I just saw this the other day on Rebecca and thought it looked perfect for throwing on for sundowners (garden, beach or city). I am partial to a crochet.
00 The Cirkel
£205 | The Cirkel | Cefinn Silk Dress
Another one for the garden party, I love that neckline! If you don’t know The Cirkel definitely start looking here, it’s a small business preloved site always with a high end selection at really good prices.
They also have an interesting, more circular strategy, whereby you can send back your item within six months and receive up to 70% of the value back as a voucher. Good idea isn’t it! Sort of like a longer term rental.
This also caught my eye….
10 What to read
I’ve just finished The Heart's Invisible Furies (2017) by John Boyne, which I’d mentioned in the below wishlist from 16/03. I think it’s going down as one of my favourite books.
I didn’t know much about the subject matter (the challenges of being gay in Ireland in the 60’s through to 2015) but it’s so interesting, heartfelt, heart wrenching, funny, warm, sad, cold and unbelievable. It’s centered around the main character Cyril’s life (narrated by him) and the people in it, that often cross paths. My heart swells just thinking of Cyril now.
Now, I’ve finished that book I felt at a bit of a loss as I’ve gotten through my stash of reading. Saying that, I do have the Patagonia book my husband loved still to read, which I will do, but the last book I read by a company founder (Shoe Dog, Nike) was very detailed and I really need to concentrate on books like this and be in the mood for them. I’m a bedtime reader and I like a story. 😂
But the book gods must have been looking down on me as I saw someone on the overground last week reading A Little Life and it reminded me this was on my list. I’m about ten pages in but so far it’s left me wanting to devour it!
230 Bella Baxter would be proud
£230 | Miista | Delf Pink Courts
A classic Mary-Jane with a twist, they are the modern day Bella Baxter inspired shoe I have had in my brain ever since I saw Poor Things. And I am a sucker for metallic pink.
I swear if I saw someone wearing these shoes I would not be able to take my metallic magpie eyes off them (and I’d also think they were probably very high end designer and double the price).
I’m also enjoying this pair below. I’ve always been a fan of Miista shoes, I’ve got some old pairs (embroidered black cuban boots and my favourite ever metallic Kermit green low heel sandals) that I must have had 7 or 8 years now, and I still get complimented on them.
I felt Miista went a bit too grungy for me over the past couple of years, but they’re bringing it back!
And that’s life this week. I’ll now be on an overdue long weekend away as you’re reading this, so expect a Porto travel review soon! Promise I’ll try and bring the sun back with me (failing that a custard tart maybe?).
Happy weekend! x
Those asda dupes… I die 😍😍😍
