Why I REALLY 'paused' Studio B as my online store this year...

... the whole truth and nothing but the truth (long read).

I’m writing this one bright and early from the airport as I’m travelling solo to Hamburg for a festive weekend, something I would never have done at this time of year when I was running Studio B!

Christmas time off just wasn’t a thing when you run a business, I mean any time off wasn’t really a thing. Yes, I went on holiday, but I’d be on my phone the entire time - emails, customer service, Instagram; the fear of not updating this even for a week! I know I’m a hoot to holiday with!

Made it to Hamburg in my favourite jumper! SEA NY from 2021 (before I stocked the brand on Studio B in 2022).

Up until April this year (2023) Studio B was my online store, which I launched in September 2017. You may notice the style I feature on here involves a fair bit of print, colour, small brands, Danish brands, independents, sparkles and something a bit different - this was Studio B! Think more style over trend, seasonless styling and an ethos of buy less, buy better, love more, wear more! 

The entire time, for almost 6 years since I launched, I ran it all only me, even as the business was growing and I could have hired someone to help. Yes I was insane! Not the correct term I know, but on reflection I really did lose my mind at some points. 

I know a lot of people were surprised when earlier this year I announced on Instagram that I was going to be ‘pausing’ Studio B as the online store. You know it sort of surprised myself that I actually finally did it… and I know a lot of people want to REALLY know WHY (there’s only so much you can write in an insta caption). 

This is a bit of a long, heartfelt one, but for anyone who’d like to know what happened, stick with this essay, I promise other than this I am all colour and joy!

I’ve put this behind the paywall as it’s a bit of a personal one, which I really did want to share, but feel it’s for those who really know / want to get to know me and this new version of Studio B on here 😊
