What I've bought (and want to buy) in SALE
Quality over quantity. Did you want it already? Does it fill a gap in your wardrobe? Is it a brand you love? Does it work for multiple seasons?
Happy New Year! This is it, 2025!
I sound more old lady every time I say this but I’m just wowed by the fact it’s 2025… it sounds so Futurama!
I’ve got to say I am feeling rather positive for this new year, and I kinda feel itching for some change, for more, to build something, and to do something, well, MORE.
I would say watch this space, but I’m not too sure yet what that ‘something’ is - ideas pending (well, I have ideas, it’s more ideas planning / execution pending).
I say all that but I’m taking this first week slooow, since it’s getting started after the festive break on a Thursday. I’ve promised myself I’ll have that renewed sense of vigour on Monday 6th Jan…
… and if you don’t, don’t B hard on yourself. Polish off those last Christmas crumbs, light a daytime candle (all in the name of Scandi style hygge) and watch Little Women (my winter favourite which, amazingly, I have yet to watch this season). Whatever you do enjoy your time. It’s yours and it’s precious.
So! I hope to save you some of your time, by eliminating endless sale scrolling, with this post - yes, you may eye-roll in that Miranda Priestly way and mutter ‘a sale shopping post in January - groundbreaking’.
BUT! I haven’t really scrolled, I can’t be bothered truth be told, I only go for things:
— I already knew I wanted.
— Look to the brands I love but can’t afford full price.
— Look ahead to summer (sale shopping out of season is well worthwhile!).
— Hunt down an item to fill a gap in my wardrobe.
= QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
This isn’t just ‘sale shopping’ this is MY sale shopping
Let us begin with what I have bought…
Maria Black | Miro Huggie 8 (22k gold plated sterling silver) | Was £63 NOW £19 at House of Fraser - I always try to buy some simple jewellery for my multiple ear piercings in sale, as I can only wear real gold or silver pieces (metal allergies - not ‘cause I’m fancy!).
Damson Madder | Tuxedo Ruffle Shirt | Was £65 NOW £45.50 - a gap in my wardrobe.
Can I just add I was inspired by this tuxedo shirt look from this recent Substack post by
. From about two weeks ago (loved this one).I realised I do not own a tuxedo shirt and would like something similar to wear with the couple of random suits I own (one green velvet, 70’s style, flared trousers, old Topshop via Vinted = £10. One pink stripe Stine Goya I’ve had years but rarely wear). But, mostly to wear as a ‘basic’ (with a bit of jazz, you know me) to wear with the abundance of snazzy trousers I own.
STYLING IDEA - I do also enjoy layering a button up shirt over a midi dress, fastening the top couple of buttons and wearing as a layer / sort of like a light jacket.
Damson Madder | Gretchen Skirt Vintage Ditsy | Was £95 NOW £47.50 - thinking ahead to summer (but also will wear now with tights / long socks and boots.).
H&M Home | 2-Pack Patterned Tumblers | Was £14.99 NOW £8 - For the gap in my home wardrobe (thanks to the dishwasher ruining several nice glasses). I bought in green too!
Moving on to MY FAVOURITE LOOK below… both pieces just went in sale TODAY!
This falls into 3 of my ‘sale best buy’ categories - I already knew I wanted, look to brands I love and prepping for summer ❤️
