What I love lately - between summer and autumn - I can't decide where I'm at!
All the lovely bits-n-bobs that have caught my eye recently, giving you some trans-seasonal inspo. The weekly wish list returns!
Hello and back to business!
After a few busy weeks I’m very much enjoying taking a little more time to write you a lovely long wish list, is it too early to talk trans-seasonal?
With that in mind this really is a bit of a mismatch of everything that’s caught my beady little eye recently - we’ve got some summer, some autumn, some ones to watch, some home, some happiness. Oh, and possibly the best cocktail I’ve ever had!
Talking of summer-come-autumn, my outfit at the weekend when it was suddenly COLD on an eve with that stormy breeze. You may recognise this made in Ukraine embroidered dress from this newsletter I sent here - you can choose ANY bespoke colours - this is my combo and I’m so so happy with her!
As much as I am a bit of a pre-planner with my wardrobe and put some deep thought into my considered purchases (true - although the odd instant buy does get through, they actually turn out to be some of my best!), I am massively affected by the immediate weather.
Therefore, I’m blaming a rather (very!) grey n gloomy June and July (for us in the UK) on the lack of lust worthy summer pieces in my current wardrobe!
Which now leaves me wanting more… BUT I’m trying to stay strong and persuade my silly self that I KNOW there’ll be knitwear that, in just a few weeks, I’ll be lusting after.
Speaking of knitwear, I bring you first THE LUCKY HORSE KNIT…
Brut Clothing | Lucky Cardigan | €280 (£235)
Yes, actually called the Lucky Sweater not the Horse Knit as I keep referring to this beauty as. Barn jackets / the ‘barn girl’ look (whatever that entails? Dry straw blonde hair I have covered!) is set to be the insta style for autumn we start to see everywhere.
Brut Clothing | Sailing Jacket | €325 (£274)
Also, this jacket has definitely caught my autumn eye - ‘The Hook Coat’ - inspired by a rare 1970’s French sailing jacket. Punchy and practical (water resistant, yes!) and I love that Brut ensure this is hand-sewn in Paris using vintage equipment, to respect the legacy of the design. Small brand beauty!
Doen | Pascual Jacket | £428
And for the Barn Jacket look this Doen style does look like zee ‘ONE’ (damn it, I love it, but was after something half the price).
Barbour | Hutton Jacket | £219 (now £155 at Flannels)
Aha, but I did see this Barbour one about a month ago, which I do think is much more reasonably priced, plus it’s showerproof. I may have to give him a go, since I’ll be spending a lot more time in *Suffolk soon… and you know, cream is practical 😂
(*More on that later, not leaving London yet / if at all, but a big project in the making… possibly years in the making).
Mango | Pockets Cotton Parka | £99
And I did also see this Mango number too that might be worth a try if you’re after that barn in the big city vibe. Although, I fear every insta gal will be sporting this one…
* I do wonder if / when brands start to see over saturation as a negative? I’ll B honest, it 100% turns me off wanting something if I see every cool girl, from the same gorgeous gang, wearing the exact same look, with the exact same pieces, from the exact same brands. WHAT’S NEXT?
Glassworks London | Beige and Brown Corduroy Collar Jacket | £295
Aaand one more and I’ll move on but I just spotted this on the lovely
and thought HELLO great summer-come-autumn look. This jacket comes in dark brown too, and I found this navy number I also rather like.I did swear to myself I wouldn’t buy any more ‘high’ summer stuff now… of course, as soon as my internal monologue decided this, I just keep on seeing DELIGHTFUL summer pieces I wish I had owned earlier in the season! Here’s some of them…
Kindred of Ireland | The Hope Dress | £360
I visited the lovely Amy and Joel at their two-month long London pop up the other week (posted a note on here about this before it ended last weekend!) and now I’ve fallen even more in love with this brand than I already was before. SO MUCH I love but I just can’t get this dress off my mind.
I do actually have the Kindred of Ireland linen tutu skirt which I bought last winter, but have only really got into styling for summer - but I’m thinking socks and chunky loafers or long ankle boots soon!
Daily Sleeper | Arle Ruffled Linen Maxi Dress in Daisies | £405
I saw Ruby (I’ve mentioned her before in here, one of my favourite artists Sshepaints) in this Sleeper dress that’s been on my mind all summer and now I WISH I’d gotten this to fulfil those milkmaid / princess notions (yes, this sort of thing lives in my head).
Charlie Beads | Bloomers | £52.25
Bloomin’ lovely! I’ve been eying up a pair of these since Daisy Murray wore them so wonderfully - she’s my modern day Little Woman style siren - and digital fashion ed at Elle. Oh, and her mother is also a style ICON! And her daughters have the most beautiful names, Bloom and Dalloway. Daisy Murray fan club right here!
Dune | Faux Shearling Lined Backless Mule Suede Loafers | £90
The perfect slipper / shoe hybrid. I’m seeing these for autumn for a cosy pub day… ooo, with the above bloomers and a slouchy knit (I’m at an East London boozer here with this look). Or, keep it more Sunday lunch vibes with jeans.
Rejina Pyo | Mila Dress Lace Red | £395
Okay, now this is my trans-seasonal hero piece, to take us from sunsets to Santa 😎
Rejina Pyo | Camila Bag Leather Petroleo | £250
I must stay away from Rejina Pyo as every time the accessories really tempt me. Dear Lord, these shoes too. Oh, feck, this pair too. I’ve got to stop… okay, one more pair.
Zara | Fabric Flower Earrings | £17.99
That Rejina red dress teamed with these earrings - double trouble!
Sun and Day | Bow Shaped Pearl Earrings | £30
Whilst I’m on earrings, remember months and months ago I showed you some similar bow earrings? You all loved them. These are even better.
Margaux Studios | Double Bow Earrings Red | £160
Okay, and the red got me with these - red with lemon now (the summer colour combo you have to try!) - red with burgundy / brown / anything come autumn (dare I mention Christmas here). They come in cream, sky blue and pink too, and in a smaller version I may even prefer - Mini Bow | £100.
Beldy | Riviera Mug | £19 (3 colours)
At Smallable - a great concept store / site - which begin in Paris as a childrenswear online store. Fifteen years later it’s so much more.
And if you like these do not look at the lamp. SHIELD YOUR EYES!
Beldy | Uranie Ceramic Table Lamp | £181
Lovebirds | Laura Dress Red White | £380
Wouldn’t this look lovely next to your above lamp, with your coffee cup in hand. A perfect one for now, for autumn, and with a turtleneck and knee boots under come winter (shhh, lets not mention the W word yet).
Okay and add these boots please…
Miista | Minnie Boots Off White | SALE at Ssense £128
Zenon | Marie's Dress | £72 (collar sold seperately)
Sail away with me honey - oh, with this dress, I will! 100% cotton, made in Romania, prices are in Romanian Lei (don’t be alarmed!).
Zenon | White Detachable Collar | £49
And the collar that takes this from simple to HELLO SAILOR is sold separately (so you could just go for the collar and add to tee’s, dresses, knitwear). Comes in Navy too and this other sailor style.
Naya Rea | Ruslana Dress | £280
Any season silk if you ask me. How stunning is this for that special dinner / fancy cocktails / spring / summer / autumn wedding - DIVINE. And you know, throw on a slouchy knit and those Dune shearling loafers to keep her autumn casual.
Base Range | Heart Long Sleeve Tee Cotton Rib | £87
Simple sweetheart ❤️ team with a slip skirt / shorts / or jeans / on her own or as a layer - your anywhere for everything.
Wolf & Gypsy Vintage | White Broderie Anglaise Sunhat | £68
Yes, I’m back on summer again here, I told you I’m trying to stay strong for autumn, but the heart (and head in this case?) wants what the heart wants! Handmade in Italy isn’t this the sweetest sunhat.
Wolf & Gypsy | Burgundy Crystal Jelly Mule | £25
Sadly sold out (I’m crying… bawling in fact!) but adding here in case of an imminent restock, fingers crossed!
NA-KD | Embroidery Shorts | £17.99
I may have a mid-September holiday happening (like I keep saying it’s summer until October in my book) and these just happened to come up for me… to go with the above hat!
Wild by TART | Restaurant Rec
Just a little recommendation I had to add in as I was so impressed with the food / the service / had possibly one of the BEST tequila COCKTAILS ever (I’ve forever been a marg connoisseur).
You know when you’re looking for a somewhat in the middle spot to meet friends in London when you live across the city’s suburbs. We did consider Granger near Sloane Square (I only know the Kings Cross one, expensive for brekkie, but my god the best ricotta banana hotcakes) but you couldn’t book outside, so then Eccleston Yards came to mind, less than 10 minutes walk from Victoria station.
Me and two friends tried TART the other Sunday (previously I’ve only been before for a drink) and everything I could rave about. The food was all delicious - we shared a few dishes and I could eat it all again - to note: the whipped feta dip with flatbreads, crispy shiitake mushrooms and the trout aguachile (like ceviche).
And MY GOD the Wild Margarita - sort of feels healthy in a gingery green juice way but with a good dash of tequila. My kind of sunny Sunday (we had three each and no hangover whatsoever. See healthy!).
*Going to TART also felt like an (unintentional) full circle moment for us we realised whilst we were there. Me and the two friends I went with (great gals) all used to work together at Anya Hindmarch, based in Clapham (the dodge side). For lunch we used to walk into Clapham old town (the nice side) and we swear TART used to have a deli / cafe there we used to buy delicious salads / quiche / baked goods from (this is going back 8 years or so!).
Maria de la Orden | Izzy Jacket Rainbow | Archive SALE £47
I’ll leave you with one more, which could be your perfect trans-seasonal jacket! A steal in Maria de la Orden’s archive sale, it’s going to breath some life into any grey September - November days.
Okay, and you’ve got me, I just succumbed to this in their SALE as I got a restock notification the other day… and it just looks like the kind of dream holiday dress I’ll wang out EVERY YEAR. FOR YEARS.
Maria de la Orden | Dolores Dress | SALE £130
But that’s it, I’m not buying any more summer things now, I swear! I’ll be holding on with what I’ve got and soaking up the last official 23 days of summer (I read that somewhere).
Knitwear, I cannot wait. Jackets, I’m coming for ya. Boots, watch out.
