Shopping Secret... try menswear. Including this dupe of THAT Claudia knit (if you've seen Traitors - I've found the exact one in brown too)
Trust me on this! I prefer the menswear to the womenswear at this brand. I've added a few other mens bits I shop too... including a dupe of Claudia's SELLOUT smiley knit (if you know, you know).
A bit of a niche one maybe, or maybe not. I am a big fan of looking outside the box and you’ll probably have guessed what I’m about to say from the title… don’t dismiss menswear!
I’ve tried GANT menswear before, for the shirts, as I liked the colours of the stripes better. Worked perfectly as I wanted oversized; I loved this styled with tailored wide leg linen trousers, and with a blue sequin mini skirt (in summer I’m talking about, dear lord I am not doing bare legs right now! Hello -1 today in London ❄️).
And one of my most treasured chunky jumpers is technically a menswear item - a collab from years ago from Chateau Orlando (helmed by *Luke Edward Hall). I’ve now just looked on this site and seen this tee, which I love the thought of for summer. And I WISH I’d seen this knit vest pre Christmas!! One for the whippet lovers I know (which includes me) and it’s now on sale.
I also very much like this tapestry gilet from Percival, and have worn my husband’s sweatshirt from here out the house too. The gilet I keep imagining over an oversized black midi dress I have (I know, black! One of only, maybe four, black items I own), or over a long sleeve floral midi dress to give this a bit of a utilitarian look.
Quickly reverting to womenswear, as the mention of a gilet reminded me of something critical! I’ve just seen that this Reversible Quilted Vest, which I’ve had my eye on, has been further reduced in sale… it’s a bargain! Plus, it’s two in one (moon print one side, check the other).
I just think everyone should get this! Anna Nina Crescent Moon Reversible Quilted Vest - Was €129.95 NOW €38.97
And I’m sure most of you will have heard of the womenswear brand Sister Jane - think pretty, poufy, occasion dresses. I’ve seen some people look amazing in this brand (but let’s face it, that can be Instagram tickery sometimes. Hate that!). But, I’ll B honest it’s never been a brand for me… I haven’t actually tried it in a couple of years, but the quality used to be dreadful in my opinion. And it’s just a bit too frilly and flouncy for me personally.
HOWEVER, I’ve recently discovered they have a men’s line, which I prefer SO MUCH more!
I ordered this shirt in autumn sale, after seeing styled here by Barbara (style crush), and it really is a goodun. Similar shirt here £39 - same style, different print (this one above has sold out now). I got a size S for a loose fit (as a size 8).
It’s set to become part of my repertoire of holiday beach shirts, which I always wear on repeat (I tend to pack 3 or 4 and not much else for daywear / beachwear). Shirt, sea and a spritz = sigh, heaven.
And I’ve just ordered this Dove Embroidered delight! I have high hopes for this and feel like it looks much more premium than the £55 sale price tag. I’m styling with extra wide jeans (mine are Zara, I wear them at least 3 time a week) and my red cowboy boots. And adding under this fair isle cropped cardi from my first sale edit.
And I really like the look of these too - essentially their menswear is great for shirts! Granted it’s girly and they do style some of them as unisex, showing on both male and female models, but you might never have thought to look under Menswear!
Okay, like the rest of Instagram / the UK / the world I fervently searched for this GREAT knit as soon as I’d seen Claudia Winklemans’s stylist, Sinead McKeefry, post this. It’s a menswear sweater from a Japanese brand, Kapital. Mr Porter stocked this, at £480, but of course it instantly sold out (and I mean instantly, I thought I was straight on there!). I then rapidly searched, but only managed to find for over £700 on Ebay. 😭
I mean the Kapital socks I found on Mr Porter are cute too (and you know, affordable) but I stopped my sweater search, disheartened by price and availability.
However, I have not been able to stop thinking about Claude’s outfit - honestly, her Scottish highlands / country core styling on Traitors is a triumph. I don’t actually even watch it, but I’ve followed stylist Sinead McKeefry for years, and this is the best bit for me (she styles Claudia for Strictly too, which is a sparkling sensation in all the right ways… the jumpsuits she finds!).
So, of course I didn’t give up my search!
ENTER THIS - I’ve managed to find us a bit of a dupe, that I actually really really love the look of.
Yep, its menswear again (or unisex rather) and it’s so reasonable it would be rude not to at least give it a try…
WANT TO KNOW WHERE HE’S FROM? 😉
Oh, and I’ve found THE Kapital knit himself, but in BROWN, available at just one independent US store… also revealed below.
