Have I told you about... Easter treats!
18/04/25 - Feat: the best hot X buns, pastel perfection, baguettes, bunnies. broderie anglais (those trousers!), what to watch, dressed up dresses, silky shorts & elasticated waists (it's Easter!) 💛
I loves a theme, loves pastels, loves a long weekend, loves mini eggs, so obviously I couldn’t ignore Easter.
Oh, how could I not mention hot cross buns there, possibly one of my favourite ever things in life (did anyone else used to freeze them for when the supermarkets stopped selling them? No? Just me?).
I know there’s more sentiment to it, but hey, it’s TREAT TIME! Which, obviously, passes as an excuse for a new outfit (and some fizz, it’s a celebration!).
So, what’s cooking?
— I keep asking exasperatedly at the moment ‘WHERE HAVE ALL THE GOOD TOPS GONE? I just keep finding trousers I like, but really am lacking in tops for this time of year. It’s true! I went through a big spring / summer dress stage. And knitwear has my heart but now I need lighter…
Something with sleeves, potentially semi-sheer, with embroidery, cut outs, a frill, a good collar, or some kind of detail, and potential to wear for day or night… and then I saw this: Anthropologie | Bardot Libbie Lace Blouse | £129.
— On that trousers note I cannot wait for these I saw on Barbara Santiago on Monday night to drop (SOON!) from danish brand Nue Notes (do check out their Archive Sale on their site too).
— Hot cross buns, okay, I’m no connoisseur, I do favour the standard M&S classic (the cheesy ones aren’t half bad mind, but not what I’d call a hot cross as such, and the other weird varieties can go in the bargain bin). BUT, I may have found the best hot X bun ever… not very original… GAILS. Slightly fancier, and a little more spiced, but utterly delicious (with a thick layer of melted butter o’course).
— Toad Bakery, if you’re South-East London you’ll know, I’ve still never frequented! This long weekend I must (if they’re open) and I bet they do the ultimate hot cross.
— This marble ring rather reminded me of a painted marbled egg (keeping it on theme!): Wilhelmina Garcia | Silver Crystal Marbled Ring | £153 (in gold plated or silver).
— Every Easter table needs some spring flowers, I couldn’t resist these pastel pretties as I walked past my local flower shop (it’s not ‘cool’ as such = pretty reasonable prices). I would never have known the name for these if it weren’t for the sign: Ranunculus.
— And every Easter table also needs new potatoes! These - Nigel Slater’s crunchy little spuds with herby dressing - are the EASIEST thing EVER. I make them midweek all the time, less the green sauce (for ease), but the green stuff is so so good!
— If I had money to burn (and a house big enough to host) I would totally buy this: Gohar World | Easter Bunny Tureen | £278.00.
— Whilst on Gohar World I may as well tell you I’ve wanted this forever (again if money were no object): Gohar World | Baguette bag with Satin Bows | £228. You could use it as a wine carrier too!

— And if you’re after a hostess with the mostess dress why not wrap it up with a big bow. LOVE this! Stella Nova | Heart Printed Bow Dress | £221 at Wild Swans (UK boutique, also available at Stella Nova direct).
— Or for something more of the vibe of prancing through a spring meadow, with a wicker basket, collecting pastel foil wrapped eggs the bunny himself planted: Pink City Prints | Buttercup Meadow Meryl Dress | £195.
— If you fancy a film this weekend did you know both Paddington in Peru (I never did see it at the cinema, despite being a Paddy fan!) and the latest Bridget Jones film (Made About The Boy) are now available to rent or buy on Prime or Apple TV.
I saw Bridge at the start of last month at the cinema, me and my friend loved it and I instantly wanted to watch it again; can you imagine anyone else other than Renée Zellweger playing Bridget? Who else could master that head held high, puffed out chest, waddly walk?
Well, now I can watch (and weep) again. And I can pause to ogle the interiors of Bridge’s Hampstead townhouse in every detail (I may pause on her love interests too, and Hugh Grant ain’t looking half bad for sixty-four. Dirty Bitch. IYKYK).

— Also, if you need something else to watch, try six-parter This Town, by the creator of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight. We just finished it all too quickly as it was brilliant!
Set in 1981, mostly in a Birmingham council estate, it definitely has brummie / political Peaky’s vibes (actually, one main character you may recognise from PB) but with music as a major part of the (very clever) storyline. I cannot wait for series 2.
*If you watch it it might take you a while to work out who Estella is, you’ll be blown away once you do!
— If you’re looking for a comfy (but cool) weekend vibe, in a sugary shade, with an elasticated waist (ideal for all the Easter feasting / bags of Mini Eggs) then I have fallen for these: American Vintage | Padow Trousers Corduroy | £135.
Oh, go on then, I might add this too: American Vintage | Cardigan East Melange Pepper | £150.
— Nothing screams Easter more than taffeta, am I right? Perhaps a bit of a niche one, but these are making my spring heart sing: Donni | The Taffeta Board Short | $287.
Just imagine teamed with an oversized white shirt or a simple block colour sweater and a GREAT kitten heel sandal (definitely a London cool girl look).
Did I just mention Mini Eggs above there… anyone else remember those 1kg bags that kept selling out one year (may have been 2020 during a covid Easter), well, rejoice! Amazon or Ocado have ‘em.
And, yep, I bought those flowers. Now come the fuck on Bridget and let’s do Easter. Have the loveliest long weekend! xx
Happy Easter! Love the flowers and the board shorts! Sad times here due to a dairy allergy but happily coop do decent dairy-free hot crosses, and hotel chocolat/rhythm108 do lovely vegan chocolate (though pricey)! ☀️🎉xx
Happy Easter! Ranunculus super easy to grow in pots, get mine from Farmer Gracey!
