Everything I've bought / am buying / want to buy right now
Beg, borrow or steal? A fun way to edit a few of my favourite things this week - go Italian cord or go home, a Suffolk pub, ballerinas, tartan, buy now dresses, lamp lust and a leopard lovely.
Hello happy shoppers and welcome (again) to the magical world that is the inner workings of my mind.
Here are a few of the precious things I’ve been thinking about of late, those ones I can’t get off my obsessive mind. Since I couldn’t sleep the last few nights (probably due to these things whirling round my mind, with the odd unicorn and pigmy goat in a knit vest jumping in there) I started musing…
… if I couldn’t buy them all (which I can’t) which would I beg, borrow or steal?
Beg
I’d seen these on Blanca Miro (style queen) this week and I’ve now become obsessed with the blue! I’ve loved Repetto ballerinas for years but have never owned a pair… I may have to beg (myself) for these!
Repetto | Sophia Ballet Flats | £220
Also, the metallic blue has got me! Same price | £220.
Borrow
I’d borrow this dress as I’d like to wear for the odd festive event… but I’d be cold and I just can’t handle discomfort (including temperature) in clothes. BUT, I’d like to borrow her again come summer ‘25 (dear god, 2025 sounds MAD!).
Ciao Lucia | Neroni Dress Black Rosette | £311
Steal
Stealing someone else’s style here - Sofie Ken - who I’ve followed and loved for what feels like an eternity (doesn’t Instagram feel like that sometimes? Life before the gram I literally never used social media / sat on my phone… ahh the good old days).
This tartan coat I’ve wanted since last year (and think I’ve included in here before in one of my early days articles) - La Veste | Sherlock Check Coat | £397.
Beg
A clog in Italian leopard print velvet: this sentence just sings to me! Sort of like platform slippers (for sleep or Cinderella) and seasonless - I’m loving the thought of these with denim or leather trousers, as much as I am with a white floaty lace dress.
Loeffler Randall | Haven Leopard Velvet Mule | $350
Borrow
Only borrowing these as my damn size never seems to be back in stock! I usually wear a size 8, which I did order, and I can tell you the quality is *chef’s kiss*. Honestly, they were the softest, plushest, most premium corduroy to have ever graced my limbs.
ME+EM | Cord Wide-Leg Trouser Intense Red | £250 (sign up for 15% first order discount).
Alas, the size 8 were far too long on me, which I would have had taken up by my trusty local dry cleaner, but they were also too big on the waist. So, I’m waiting (impatiently) on a size 6. In my mind these cords are the basis of all my autumn / winter outfits!
*And I did quibble over the price, it seemed expensive for cords and I thought I could find similar for less… I can tell you two high-street pairs have gone back as they’re SO thin in comparison (DON’T bother with these, they look nothing like they do online). Turns out once you’ve tried Italian cord you can’t go back!
I haven’t tried these yet but I did also find this Italian corduroy pair as a close contender - Brora | Corduroy Wide Leg Trousers Claret | £198.
Steal
I saw this lamp in Suffolk the other weekend at the Greyhound Inn (Pettistree) and I could have stolen one (not so discreet as it’s a floor lamp 😂). One was right next to us and I was fully distracted by needing to know where it was from!
I could have just asked, but there happened to be one in the (outside) toilet too… which I turned upside down to see if the brand was on the base (it was), but then the copper shade fell off with a ‘fuck me’ almighty clatter! WARNING: don’t do this, just ask.
Pooky | Twinky Rechargeable Floor Lamp | £143
*Sideline
The roast chicken for two we shared for Sunday lunch at the above mentioned Greyhound Inn (Pettistree) was delicious - the best chicken we’ve had in a long time, and oh-my-gawd the chicken gravy, seriously the best we’ve ever had (and we’re both Northerners).
They did a great proper classic marg too, a rarity for Suffolk pubs. The staff (and other diners - they loved Mabel) were all lovely too, and the cosy but very well done interiors / pub vibes were perfection.
**Sideline
Less dinner, more dresses! Just to mention ME+EM again here, they have some delicious autumn-licious (new word there) looking pieces right now… and I’d buy now before party collections hit and everything gets a little too occasion wear for my liking (i.e Christmasy - always so much velvet, sequins and wintery sparkles with a short lifespan).
ME+EM | Metallic Pointelle Knit Maxi Dress | £275 - That espresso brown metallic fabric, I’d wear this now and into the new year.
And I’m loving brown right now, if you haven’t, TRY IT - a previously underrated tone that really does suit everyone! I feel brown keeps this metallic more autumn, and less ‘alright Santa’.
Also, this burgundy lace, in soft jersey, lined in the body - perfect for meeting to make-mine-a-negroni - ME+EM | Lace Jersey Long Sleeve Maxi Dress | £225.
Thank you so much for reading dear subscribers (I thank you all for being here). I hope you enjoyed this thought process, obviously I will not be stealing, so may have to succumb to buying ONE thing.
If I had to pick it’s that ME+EM brown metallic for me (unless the dark red cords come back in stock in my size) OR the Pooky rechargeable lamp (I really did love this!).
B xx
Just bought the Me+Em dress for a winter wedding YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER
