Copenhagen Fashion Week - the looks I loved / what I'm buying
My CPHFW round up for you, with those bits you can buy now!
Hello and happy sunny week to us Londoners!
*Yes London was 32 degrees on Monday, if you don’t know the city, FAR too hot to function (hot Victorian houses / no seaside / lack of lidos / no air con / no workplaces downing tools for the month of August - we are not equipped for this heat!).
Anyway, back on track and I’m working at a hot human pace this week = sluggish sloth like movements. But! I am talking Copenhagan Fashion Week for you this week - one of my favourite topics!
I used to buy a lot of Danish brands when Studio B was my online store (RIP for now: 2017 - 2023). I remember being so nervous / excited to first meet with Baum und Pferdgarten, one of the first brands I got on board for my store. I then was one (if not the) first UK stockist for Stine Goya, Resume and Stella Nova (definitely the latter two, I discovered them a year before they even had UK sales agents).
So, I have in fact been to Copenhagen Fashion Week one time (invited by the brands I worked with as a stockist) back in 2022. And every year I do follow it religiously... I may become a little over excited / obsessed.
In all honesty I think I get a tiny tad more excited to see all the influencers / guests outfits at this Fashion Week. Don’t get me wrong, I love the brands collections too, but obviously we have to wait for those, whereas some of the creative crowds looks we can achieve NOW.
With that in mind here’s my round up of the Danish darling, Scandi siren, Copenhagen cool looks I loved last week - and I’ve linked the pieces you can buy now / similar I’ve tracked down.
I’ll crack on with it! Here’s some of the bits-n-bobs I’ve got butterflies about / will be recreating.
In no particular order; I’m going off my extensive notes page / screenshot photos on my phone - yes my phone hours per week were up last week - don’t underestimate how long this all takes!
Sissel Edelbo
A brand I’ve shown you a few times on here (it’s very… me!) that we, sadly, barely have any UK stockists of.
Which I do see changing, but the brand always seem to have big collections, plus continuous styles, plus in season specials - which small independents just can’t take all of / don’t necessarily get access to. Basically, we have to go to Denmark with a big ole suitcase and order like crazy!
*They do ship to the UK for online orders over €210 but there are customs charges (I’m still cursing Brexit!)
Here’s what I would be ramming in my case…
Sissel Edelbo | Elisabeth Dress Vintage Stripes | €224 (pre order) - my favourite dress from the whole new collection.
Sissel Edelbo | Maggie Jacket White Rose | €224 (pre order). Also comes in bluebell on pre order. And in pink in stock now.
Sissel Edelbo | Rose Coat | €280 - currently available to order online in white and pink (pink is pre order), the blue doesn’t seem to be on there yet.
*Although it might be this new Sade Coat style here (but the images weren’t showing up for me online to confirm) - actually it’s not but left this here as this is also a great coat!
Sissel Edelbo | Patricia Dress Victoriana Circus | €208 (available now).
Rebecca Ferraz Wyatt
I’ve followed Rebecca from the start and it’s incredible to see her style develop, she can do no wrong in my opinion (I’d love to go round for ‘wine and wardrobe’ 😂 perhaps a new series I should start?).
Every outfit I’ve loved but something about this Baum und Pferdgarten look has just become ingrained in my tiny mind under my catalogue of potential outfits (yep that is my brain, basic? No. BRILLIANT! Yes! Thank you please).
I’ll be going for this COS denim deeelight - is it a shirt? Is it a jacket? A sort of denim cardigan? Either way can I style it as per the above? YES. COS | V-neck Denim Shirt | £85.
Whilst on denim, and the mention of BUP (I can’t keep typing the full name, you’ll see it many times in here!) I may be setting sail to acquire this - Baum Und Pferdgarten | Madia Dark Sailor Blue Top | £189 (found well stocked here at Form SE15).
And for similar to those stripy bananas in pyjamas trousers - I mean that in a cool way FYI - you’ll find similar at a few places, try Zara, Free People, or I like these from Nudea.
Nudea | The Classic Trouser French Stripe | £32 on sale here at Wolf & Badger.
I could go on all day just on Rebecca’s looks but one I’ve been meaning to give you for a few weeks already is THIS lemon dress (lemon with red accessories has been a colour combo I’ve had on my radar from earlier this summer too).
Polyphoniew | Pleated Waist Puff-Sleeved Dress | £85.
Speaking of COS (above there) I’d also spotted these shoes on Kathrine Mahon, to my surprise, COS! I was think Jacquemus, Maison Margiela, or somewhere more spenny.
COS | SQUARE-TOE LEATHER HEELED BALLET PUMPS | £125.
They come in a flat ballet pump too | £115. Generally COS are impressing me more and more over the past few months (same as Massimo Dutti, who for once haven’t got a mention this newsletter).
Fancy Feet - Alaia? NO. Loeffler Randall. NO. £££? NO!
That mention of footwear just reminded about THESE - I honestly think these look amazing - the best Alaia leather dupe - and the best Loeffler Randall mesh dupe!
I like the white here (same style also comes in black) - Tony Bianco | Miami White Nappa Flats | £103.16.
And the mesh Loeffler Randall lookalike I speak of - Tony Bianco | Milo Nude Nylon Flats | £92.84 - or on sale in Black | £51.59.
Trying so hard to resist, but a great autumn shoe too, for with jeans, right? As long as it doesn’t rain.
Polly Sayer
Another style queen who I just can’t stop looking at (in a none creepy way, you know what I mean!). I am as obsessed with her hair (I still can’t master that barely done wave) as I am her wardrobe / life / home / fitness regime (okay, maybe I am verging on slightly creepy).
This CPHFW piece of Polly perfection I loved and it took me by surprise that it’s Nobody’s Child - Leopard Print Crew Neck Long Sleeve Top | £39 and Black Drawstring Midi Skirt | £59.
Also this, newly launched Damson Madder, just launched yesterday! Damson Madder | Tish Midi Dress Black Bow Print | £115.
I’d also seen Poppy Almond in this new collection Damson Madder shirt-n-skirt which I think looks the perfect autumn transitional co-ord.
Which I can’t see online yet but I am rather fancying this newly launched co-ord - Damson Madder | Rafe Trousers Navy And Burgundy Stripe | £85 and Harriet Blouse | £70.
Do check out their hats and hair accessories too! And I’ve got this is mind for an update on my daily dog walking bag (looks to fit treats, small water bottle, poo bags, ball, keys, collapsable coffee cup. Plus, comes in at my desired under £60 budget).
Oh god and I cannot wait for this COMING SOON Sailor Denim Jacket (sensing a nautical theme for myself here).
This really is my favourite fashion week for street style (do we still use that term?). Yes, Paris is a good one, Milan has a more glitzy vibe, then of course there’s London… don’t hate me local people but it’s my least favourite for the looks. It just feels like you often see people going a bit too avant-garde (erm, wacky), ‘notice me, snap me’… essentially, try hard. Sorry!
Stella Nova
Like I mentioned above a brand I know, love and used to work with when I bought their collections (a great team. Their scalloped midi length Loan Dress remained one of my bestselling items).
I saw this patchwork perfection on Mafalda Patricio (the design looks like a bit of a new take on the Loan style I just mentioned above) - Stella Nova | EMBROIDERED COTTON DRESS - MULTICOLOUR | £326.
Then this blue really caught my colour catcher eye! On Sonja Leigh here - Stella Nova | EMBROIDERED MAXI DRESS - CLEAR BLUE | £306.
Blue Shirting
A classic. For a reason. I spotted Hollie Mercedes in this JW Anderson to die for two piece look (if you love a blue stripe).
And I loved what Sarah Macken (a friend from afar, well Ireland, we’ve chatted for years, one day we’ll meet!) wrote on her Instagram about Nordic blues 💙
“… that everyone in CPH was in blue shirting - on bikes, in the hotel, the front row. It can be as casual or dressy as you like, a classic for a reason.”
Which leads me to this GREAT blue stripe dress I just discovered from Rita Montezuma’s collaboration with NA-KD. I’ve followed Rita for years; if you like Studio B you’ll love her style.
NA-KD | Cotton Smocked Detail Midi Dress | £64.95.
Happy Hair!
I adored this braided pony look from the Munthe show - if I could I would (damn short hair!).
And this darling do from Rebecca again.
I also immediately took note of her red rose scrunchie with matching ribbon vibe.
I’d wanted that red rose Arket scrunchie for a while! I didn’t realise it had gone in sale last month, then of course sold out - where was I! But I’ve just bought the denim version in sale instead: Arket | Denim Rose Scrunchie | £10.
And I found us a red here! Camilla Elphick | Alba Red Rose Hair Scrunchie | £10 (half price).
Happy Heads
Yes, now we’re talking headwear. I don’t have much here other than some images of a couple of sartorial crowns I enjoyed!
Sorry, excuse me for a moment HATS section, this is the flower brooch I speak of - Siedres x Mango | Crochet Floral Brooch | £15.99.
Back to hats…
And I CAN give you this hat I’ve been staring at all summer…
You know when you should have bought it in May and worn all summer long? But for some unbeknown stupid reason didn’t!! I still lust lust lust after these from Romualda.
And the one on my wishlist - Romualda | Amapola Gran Bucket Hat | £83.
My MOST WANTED
That Baum und Pferdgarten jumper (from February’s runway show) I’m desperate to launch for AW24.
It hasn’t yet but IT IS in the NEXT DROP - I have it confirmed it’s due to arrive at the beginning of September (right now brands are trickling in AW24 main collections, most fully launch next month).
*And if you’re wondering why ‘Since 99’ this piece is from the brand's 25th anniversary collection, celebrating 'Love und Friendship Since 1999'.
Oh, and finally I’ll leave you with my little list of photographers to follow for Fashion Week street style shots (they’re the best):
— Sarah Ellen Treacher
— Romilux (Romina Introini)
— Morgane Maurice
— Style du Monde
— Despi Naka
And I have ran out of time / finger typing energy (a strong 4 days this single newsletter has taken me to complete!) but BAG CHARMS were everywhere!
Skål! = Cheers (in Danish-Norwegian-Swedish-Icelandic).
100% agree CPHFW tops the rest. Typically Scandi in style, it feels genuinely effortless compared to the others. And for the record, street style is very much still a reference for me!
Omg I’m in love with the floral coat but it won’t go near my 45 inch bust 😭😭😭
