A coat edit that’s not boring (why is this so hard to come by?)
For those who like a jazzy jacket as much as I do (sorry black, grey, standard single-breasted lovers).
Ooo autumn is heating up isn’t it - well, not literally - and I’ve got to say, I am ready for a touch colder weather now! I’m embracing the season since we’ve hit the ‘ber’ months (but September doesn’t count, that’s not autumn yet in my world) and now I’m feeling ready for COAT SEASON.
Our autumn wardrobes are ramping up a notch and we’re uncovering our past years coats, boots and knits and thinking about filling the gaps… or adding a little refresh.
I’ve got to say coats are my weakness, and yes, I have amassed quite a collection over the years. And, another yes, storage is a nightmare. Honestly, you should see me wrestling faux fur, leather and wool packed weighty suit carriers out the eaves of the storage in our attic ‘stock’ room.
This is partly the fault of having owned an online store for almost 6 years (until spring 2023) - you could have said at times I paid myself in coats (to the joy of my husband, coats won’t pay the mortgage dear, but hey, they make a cosy home in themselves!).
*With that in mind look out for my final SAMPLE SALE of the year towards the end of this month (possibly my final one ever as I’ve sold so much now). I’ve been saving some GREAT knits and coats for selling in season.
*It’ll be on my Instagram stories again and I’ll give paid subscribers an early access preview (and chance to nab first) in here again too.
Anyway, moving on, lets get on with my COAT EDIT for you.
I know there’s multiple ‘coat edits’ out there and it’s hardly highly original but, I’ve got to say, I’m finding those I’ve seen so far rather boring. And I love coats!
Collagerie - dull, colourless (unless you can afford Prada, Loewe or Khaite), SheerLuxe.com - samey, uninspiring, Vogue.com - again, nondescript (and some others I won’t call out as I love the stylists / writers / creators so don’t want to offend any individuals).
So, I’d say this is for those that choose delightful over dull.
Now, it might not B the most colourful, as I do think we’re struggling with this this season (since pretty much everything everywhere is suddenly burgundy). But, this is all of those I’ve naturally come across and love for myself… with a bit more interest in terms of shape / texture / print / where to buy.
Kindred spirits
Kindred of Ireland | Raglan Tweed Coat | £1,350 - This new collection from Amy is just a dream, it honestly makes me ache with longing!
Starting with the investment price pieces here (don’t worry I’ve got a range coming up, from £25.99 - just one at £1,500) but this brand is truly beautifully made, truly something special and truly treasure forever magic.
Kindred of Ireland | ‘Find the Gold’ Coat | £800 - I mean, this is just STUNNING (and works for any season really - but let us imagine with a massive chunky knit, barrel jeans and big boots).
I tried this gold coat on at Kindred’s pop up a couple of months ago in London and I was so SO tempted!!
Print party
Rejina Pyo at the Outnet | Floral-print faux shearling coat | £269 - Now this is a bit of me, I love a printed faux shearling! You know the kinda coat you feel great wearing… especially when you look around at the sea of black and grey overcoats whilst you’re on the tube and smile to yourself.
Mongolian moment
